How to grow the best Kekiri? successfully.

  • Kekiri prefers tropical climates and can be grown year-round.
  • Optimal temperature range: 30°C to 35°C.
  • Soil: Well-drained soils with good organic matter content. pH range: 5.5 to 7.5.

 

  • Use 500g of seeds per hectare (1 gram contains 90–100 seeds).
  • Prepare planting holes (30cm³) filled with decomposed organic matter mixed with topsoil.
  • Plant 3–4 seeds per pit. After 2 weeks, remove weak seedlings, leaving two healthy ones.
  • Apply basal fertilizer: Urea (75 kg/ha), TSP (200 kg/ha), and MOP (60 kg/ha).
  • Top-dress at 4 weeks and 8 weeks after seedling emergence.
  • Daily irrigation until seeds germinates.
  • Water every 3–4 days based on climatic conditions to prevent vine and seed rot.

Water regularly using the finger method for ground planting or the 50% rule for containers.

  • Control weeds early in the crop’s growth.
  • Mulching helps suppress weeds.
  • Common pests: Melon fly, Aulacophora beetle, Epilachna beetle, aphids, and whiteflies.
  • Apply recommended pesticides and maintain field sanitation.
  • Common diseases: Powdery mildew, downy mildew, and soft rot.
  • Monitor and take appropriate measures.
